How to Deliver Respiratory Treatments to Neonates by Nebulization
نویسنده
چکیده
Delivery of drugs by aerosol may allow higher concentrations of therapeutic agents to act locally at the site of pulmonary infection or inflammation, and therefore, the potential for systemic side effects is minimized. Aerosolization of therapeutic agents acts as a useful adjunct to more conventional systemic therapies. A comparison of respiratory care workload with 2 different nebulizers.
UNLABELLED Aerosol therapy via small-volume nebulizer (SVN) accounts for a large proportion of the respiratory care workload. Treatment time is mostly nebulization time, which is highly variable, depending on SVN design. We studied the workload effect of adopting a faster nebulizer. We hypothesized that time saved by faster SVN treatment can be used by respiratory therapists for other patient-c...
متن کاملIn Vitro Surfactant and Perfluorocarbon Aerosol Deposition in a Neonatal Physical Model of the Upper Conducting Airways
OBJECTIVE Aerosol delivery holds potential to release surfactant or perfluorocarbon (PFC) to the lungs of neonates with respiratory distress syndrome with minimal airway manipulation. Nevertheless, lung deposition in neonates tends to be very low due to extremely low lung volumes, narrow airways and high respiratory rates. In the present study, the feasibility of enhancing lung deposition by in...

Introduction: High risk is a pregnancy case which endangers the life of both mothers as well as fetus and The incidence between 10-30%being. Considering the importance of neonates health, it is decided in this research that , some of health indexes of born neonates from mothers whit high risk pregnancy to be studied. The findings of this plan can be used in programming procedure of pregnancy pe...
متن کاملModification of an aerosol mask to provide high concentrations of oxygen in the inspired air. Comparison to a nonrebreathing mask.
With a few simple modifications, an aerosol mask was adapted to deliver high concentrations of oxygen. We compared the delivery of high concentrations of oxygen by this modified aerosol mask (MAM) with that of a nonrebreathing mask (NRM) in five normal volunteers and six patients with respiratory failure. Besides improved oxygenation, the MAM also permitted the following: humidification of the ...
متن کاملUpdate of minimally invasive surfactant therapy
To date, preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) after birth have been managed with a combination of endotracheal intubation, surfactant instillation, and mechanical ventilation. It is now recognized that noninvasive ventilation (NIV) such as nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in preterm infants is a reasonable alternative to elective intubation after birth. Recen...
